Are you feeling frustrated at the slow rate of progress that your child is making in his or her development with traditional therapy? Could there be something missing that would help your child achieve their milestones? Retained or unintegrated reflexes may be an underlying cause contributing to your child's developmental challenges. Learn more below about how reflex integration can help.
What Are Reflexes?
Primitive reflexes are what babies have for the birthing process and the first few months of life. They are the building blocks of development. Normally, they should all be integrated (gone) by age one. If retained, they could lead to movement, sensory integration, cognitive and learning skill delays. A snapshot of problems that may occur due to retained reflexes are:
- ADD/ADHD, autism, learning challenges, developmental delays
- Reading and writing difficulties, language and speech delays, disorganization, fidgeting and concentration difficulties
- Extreme shyness and lack of confidence
- Sensory integration disorders, vision and hearing challenges
- Development of allergies and addictions
- Coordination difficulties, hypotonia (low muscle tone) and hypertonia (increased muscle tone), muscle weakness, chronic body aches, poor endurance, and fatigue
- Poor bladder control (wetting the bed at night), breathing difficulties
Retained reflexes influence the quality of our lives. Reflex integration opens the door to new possibilities and provides hope for both children and adults to reach their new potential.
Quantum Reflex Integration (QRI) protocols use a cold laser to stimulate reflex pathways and acupressure points with the intention of integrating neurological reflexes that have not matured. Correction of the reflexes may lead to significantly improved physical functioning and mental development.
What Is QRI?Quantum Reflex Integration (QRI) is a program which incorporates the use of a soft or cold laser to help with reflex integration via various acupressure points in the body. Primitive reflexes can be considered “building blocks” which all of our senses, skills and abilities build upon. They serve a purpose to help babies develop in the first 2 years of life; however, sometimes these reflexes stay active and create problems with various skills and development. Cold lasers are increasingly used by various therapists to help those experiencing:
Quantum Reflex Integration (QRI) combines the powerful effects of cold laser, sound, and reflex integration techniques. Reflex Integration revives the nervous system for quick, visible results. These techniques re-pattern both primitive and lifelong reflexes for the development of efficient neurological processing. Original reflex integration patterns may not integrate during the normal developmental stage. They can interfere with many aspects of learning, physical movement, development, and behavior. Integrating a reflex connects nerve nets or repairs them to allow rapid and efficient transmission of impulses along nerve cells. Individuals with conditions such as autism, ADD/ADHD, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, dementia, learning disabilities, Parkinson’s disease, strokes, and pain are finding a reduction of symptoms with QRI™. Practitioners report that use of the protocols for reflexes often relieve and heal specific areas of pain faster. Although QRI works for individuals with specific disabilities, they also allow individuals to reach their potential by strengthening neurological connections. |
Reflex Integration Meets Cold Laser Therapy —Quantum Reflex Integration™By Bonnie Brandes
A cutting edge program called Quantum Reflex Integration, QRI® is changing the way therapists and parents address abnormally developed (“retained”) primitive reflexes. Specific acu-points and patterns linked to these reflexes, paired with the QRI Harmonic laser, often literally repair the neurological connection associated with each reflex. The QRI® protocols are presented in a home program that parents find easy to follow; children enjoy the program and often request laser time. Therapists around the world are getting results with their clients and are using the program for themselves as well. A non-English speaking chiropractor from Europe found the program, which provides diagrammatic instructions, easy to follow; he saw significant improvements with his clients. Using the program on himself, his own dyslexia was eased. Individuals with conditions such as autism, ADD/ADHD, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, dementia, learning disabilities, Parkinson’s disease, strokes, and pain are finding a reduction of symptoms with QRI®. A practitioner reports that use of the protocols for reflexes relieves specific areas of pain faster than positioning the laser directly on these areas. Reflexes are the building blocks of development that form in utero and in early infancy. They are essential for the maturation of cognition, movement, and behavior. For example, the fear paralysis reflex protects the fetus, causing a freezing of movement when mother is in “Fight or Flight” mode. It thus prevents the fetus from making demands on the mother, and also blocks passage through the placenta of damaging hormones such as cortisol. An active fear paralysis reflex is often found in children with autism and OCD. This reflex prevents the person from “choosing” their response. They react first and cannot think logically about their decisions. Many factors can cause a reflex to be retained, including genetics; stress during pregnancy and delivery (e.g., C-section); environmental toxins; lack of movement; diet; and brain injuries. Reflexes integrate in stages, have a timeline, and affect the infant’s progress on all levels. The low level laser used with the QRI® protocols has remarkable photochemical effects at the cellular level. The laser’s photons penetrate to several levels of tissue, depending on frequency, and can rejuvenate skin, fascia, bone, cartilage, and nerve tissue. Photons are absorbed by both the mitochondria inside the cell and the cell membrane. Stimulation of mitochondria increases production of ATP, which governs 80 – 90 percent of cellular activity, including replication. Effects also include decreased inflammation of tissue and improved circulation. In the case of nerve tissue, the laser helps to restore the myelin sheath, which increases the speed and efficiency of impulse transmission. Click here to read success stories from the use of QRI. |
